Police: Stolen passport suspect sought asylum

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (AP) -- Malaysian police said one of the two passengers on a missing plane who was using a stolen passport was an Iranian seeking asylum.

Police said they don't believe the 19-year-old was a member of a terrorist group, and that he was believed to be heading to Germany.

Police said the second passenger with a stolen passport has not been identified.

The plane, flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board, disappeared Saturday morning. Authorities expanded their search Tuesday to the opposite side of the country's coast from where the Boeing 777 was last seen.
