Boston bomber lawyers in court

Boston (AP) -- Lawyers for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect want some of the charges against their client tossed out and restrictions eased on him in prison.

The attorneys will make their request Wednesday before a federal judge in Boston.

A 30-count federal indictment charges Dzhokhar Tsarnaev with last year's twin bombings that killed three people and wounded dozens more.

His attorneys said many of those charges are redundant and could sway jurors.

Meanwhile, Boston police have not released the identity of a man accused in a bombing hoax near the Boston Marathon finish line.

Hours after Tuesday's commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the twin bombings that killed three people and wounded dozens of others, police said an officer stopped a man acting suspiciously near the race finish line.

He allegedly told the officer that a rice cooker was in his backpack.

As a precaution, authorities blew up the backpack and another one found nearby.
