The parent app

Rochester, N.Y. A new app on the market is bringing back the traditional family dinner, and giving parents control of how much their kids use technology.

The Parent App is hoping to solve problems that families have when the kids spend most of their time with their eyes glued to a screen. Once the free app is installed on the kids phones, the parents phones become remote controls.

If you click dinner time the kids phones go into lockdown for an hour.

If mom thinks that the kids need a break from technology, she can tap take a break and the phone locks.

For most parents though, the real issue is bedtime. Now parents can lock the phones from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., without having to take the phone away.

The app is limited in that parents can have an iPhone, but the kids must have Android devices for the app to function.

iPhones and iPod Touches will not run the app, and according to the app creator, thats because of Apples strict rules about remote access through apps.
