Rochester man dies while hiking in NH

SANDWICH, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says a New York man has died while hiking in the White Mountains.

Officials say 30-year-old Christopher K. Todd of Rochester, N.Y., was hiking with a group up the Blueberry Ledge Trail on Wednesday when he stopped and loss consciousness near the summit around 5 p.m.

The other hikers called 911 and performed CPR on him until emergency personnel and fish and game conservation officers arrived.

Officials say the lifesaving measures continued on the trail until just after 7 p.m. when it was determined that Todd had died. The department says although it's unknown how he died, hikers are being warned to be well-hydrated before they head out and to drink plenty of water while hiking in the hot weather.
