Time Warner is Increasing Internet Rates
Rochester, N.Y. – Time Warner Cable customers will be facing higher internet prices beginning on August 9th.
Time Warner is raising internet service rates by an average of $3 a month for residents in the Rochester area.
The increases will depend on the television, internet and phone packages already purchased.
Customers currently paying for promotional packages that are cheaper than regular packages will not be affected. The increased rate will kick in when the promotional rate expires.
Company spokesperson for Time Warner, Joli Plucknette-Farmen said rates are increasing due to the heavy usage of the internet. The increased use has called for more maintenance of the network and increased bandwidth.
Time Warner is offering discounts for customers choosing to limit their usage. Those limits include a 5GB or 30GB cap.
“Those who use the Internet for their e-mail or to surf the Web need not pay the same rates as those who download games and the like,” Plucknette-Farmen said.
Those who purchase bundles from Time Warner Cable will need to review their monthly bill to assess the increase in rates.
