Retiring Webster Police sergeant honored

Webster, N.Y.- A Webster Police officer was honored Monday for two decades years of service, including his heroic actions during an ambush on Christmas Eve.

Assemblyman Mark Johns presented a citation from the New York State Assembly to Sergeant Kevin Hall.

Johns praised Sgt. Hall for his 20 years of service to the Webster community, including the morning of Christmas Eve when a gunman ambushed West Webster firefighters who responded to a fire call on Lake Road.

Sgt. Hall was one of the first officers who arrived on scene. He grabbed a ballistic shield from his car and rushed to help the firefighters who were being fired upon.

Sgt. Hall will begin his next career at the Monroe Community College Public Safety Department.
