Poll: Perception of race relations plummets

On the heels of the George Zimmerman verdict and the backlash over that decision, a new poll sheds light on how Americans perceive race relations in the U.S.

According to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, 52% of adults say race relations are "very good" or "fairly good." That's down from more than 70 percent from polls taken just a couple years ago.

54% agree with the statement that America judges people based on content of character and not skin color.

That's down from 60% from just a few years ago.
