Man killed in triple shooting was preparing to memorialize a friend

Rochester, N.Y. - Friends and family of the man killed in a triple shooting, 20-year-old Tahje Orange, held a vigil for him and another friend, Tommy King Jr., who was shot dead a year ago Saturday.

As those who knew Tommy King Jr. prepared Friday night to remember him, gun fire killed one of his best friends and injured two others.

“I'm still in shock. Actually I was here, that's what makes it even worse that I was actually here for the whole thing when it started,” said Daniela Pittman, King.’s sister and Orange’s friend. "I'm at a loss for words. I'm just stunned right now.”

Three men were shot just after 9:45 Friday night on Boston Street off of Joseph Avenue.

Pittman thought the popping sound she heard was firecrackers.

“It's exhausting," she said. "It's draining, you know? I'm just at a loss for words."

Orange was living with Pittman. She said their family and friends were still trying to come to terms with King's death when Orange was gunned down.

“He (Orange) was a great kid,” said Pittman. “Loving, quiet, he did what he could for anybody and just was a loving kid. Just to end his life for no reason, it's unbelievable.”

Police have not released the identities of the two other victims.

They are both expected to be OK.

Police are still looking for suspects.
