Drowning victim in Irondequoit Bay identified

Rochester, N.Y. – The Monroe County Sheriff's Department has identified the body of the missing boater found in the Irondequoit Bay Saturday.

The victim is Gabriel Perez-Alvarado, 26, of Rochester.

Authorities said his body was found near 9 Bay Point Circle Drive Saturday afternoon.

Perez-Alvarado was on a pontoon boat with three other adults and three kids. Officials said he was swimming in the water when he began having trouble and went under.

The U.S. Coast guard assisted with the search.
