72-year-old woman killed in Chili crash

Chili, N.Y.- A 72-year-old woman from Henrietta was killed in a car crash in Chili Monday morning.

A spokesperson from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Cynthia Hodges was killed when the car she was riding in went into a ditch and hit a tree.

The accident happened around 10:20 a.m. in the area of Brook Road and Scottsville Road.

Police said Leonard Hodges, 72, was traveling eastbound on Brook Road when he suddenly passed out.

According to witness who was behind the vehicle, the Hodges vehicle was traveling the posted speed limit of 30 mph when it suddenly accelerated and began speeding away.

The witness saw the car leave the roadway and strike a tree.

Hodges’ wife, who was sitting in the front seat, was killed.

Leonard Hodges was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for cuts on his face.

Police said a pre-existing medical condition may have caused Hodges to lose consciousness.
