Street becomes pond after water main break

Pittsford, N.Y. -- A routine water main break left some damage that looked anything but routine.

The break left a gigantic hole in the middle of Hidden Creek Circle Saturday. Part of the street was closed down for flooding and repair work.

Thirty houses were without water, but were expected to get it back sometime Saturday night.

Neighbors said it was an unbelievable scene.

Some of the amazing things were just the force and the power that thrust the whole street up into the air, drove the water down our street, said Bill Mackenzie, who lives nearby. It was like the Colorado River with sediment. It's just amazing."
