10-year-old boy critically injured in early morning crash

Alabama, N.Y. - Genessee County Sheriffs are investigating the cause of a crash that left a 10-year-old boy critically injured.

Authorities say that Shawn Wolcott and his father, Shawn Wolcott Sr., were driving on Ledge Road in Alabama around 8:30 a.m. Saturday when the vehicle went off the road. The car struck a telephone poll, causing it to split in two.

The son was critically injured in the accident and airlifted to Children's Hospital in Buffalo. The father was taken by ambulance.

Police are still investigating the cause of the incident and 13WHAM will update the story when more details become available.
