PGA honored Trevino in Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. - The PGA honored Lee Trevino, winner of the 968 U.S. Open at Oak Hill Country Club, in Rochester on Wednesday night.

Trevino received the PGA Distinguished Service Award at the Riverside Convention Center.

When Trevino won at Oak Hill 35 years ago, he stayed with the Kircher family while competing at Oak Hill. Trevino and the family remain close today.

"They're all gonna be here and their kids," Trevino said. "I got a pretty good entourage."

After earning his first PGA victory in Rochester, Trevino went onto win six other majors during his hall of fame career.

"This is what made my career," Trevino said.

"As a matter of fact i'm still exempt on that tour," Trevino said. "If I wanted to, I could go over there and still play. I couldn't reach the fairways, but i could still have some fun."

As part of Wednesday night's awards ceremony, Grammy-winner Michael Bolton entertained the crowd at the Convention Center.
