Senecas hope to open Casino in Henrietta
Henrietta, N.Y. -- The Seneca Indian Nation wants to open casino operations in Henrietta, according to an announcement by the tribe on Tuesday.
"The Seneca Nation is interested in looking for opportunities to grow and complement our gaming operations, consistent with our contractual restrictions under the SGCs current financing," said Seneca Nation President Barry E. Snyder, Sr.
The tribe named Flaum Management company to coordinate the development.
"This is an exciting day," CEO David Flaum said. "I am profoundly grateful for Seneca Nation for choosing me. I hope to assist them in bringing a casino here."
Flaum said he had been in discussions with the Senecas for some time. Bringing a casino to this area is something he has always hoped to do.
The Senecas run three casinos in the Buffalo/Niagara area.
In 2002, the Seneca Nation signed an agreement with the State of New York, under the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. That means the Nation and the State need to cooperate in the establishment of three "class III gaming" casino facilities.
