Clarkson man accused of falsely reporting home invasion

Clarkson, N.Y.- Monroe County Sheriffs deputies said a man from Clarkson was charged for falsely claiming he was stabbed during a home invasion.

William Haines, 64, of Clarkson Parma Townline Road, is charged with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor.

On July 25, police responded to his home for the report of a stabbing.

Police said at the time, Haines reported that two men walked into his garage and forced their way into his house through a side door. He claimed he was assaulted and stabbed by the suspects, giving a detailed description of the perpetrators to deputies.

Authorities said investigators determined that Haines made up the story.
