Shelter dog wakes family when house is afire

Long Island, N.Y. - "Bear" is a former shelter dog who was honored Wednesday for saving his new family from a house fire on Long Island.

Town officials say Bear saved Carol Swinson and her 9-year-old grandson by jumping on Swinson until she finally woke up.

The family had adopted Bear just two weeks earlier. He'd been at the shelter two months.
