Broken leg sidelines Stewart at Watkins Glen

Kannapolis, N.C. – Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart will not race in Sunday’s Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glen International, according to a statement released by Stewart-Haas Racing Tuesday.

Stewart, 42, broke his right tibia and fibula racing sprint cars Monday night in Oskaloosa, Iowa. It happened nearly three weeks after Stewart was involved in a crash that injured two drivers at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

No replacement driver has been named for Sunday’s race, which Stewart has won a record five times in his career.
