Local Boys and Girls Club receives $2 million gift

Rochester, N.Y. -- The Boys and Girls Club of Rochester was on the receiving end of a generous gift Thursday.

The organization was notified that they are recipients of a $2 million donation from the estate of Kathleen Holt, a former Boys and Girls Club board member.

Holt passed away in May.

This magnanimous gift is more than we could have dreamed of. Kathys passion for the Club and the kids it serves was deep and genuine. Kathy was everything you could ask for in a board member. Not only was she a wonderful advisor in her board capacity AND a generous donor, but she gave of herself in terms of volunteer time and effort. We will miss her wise council, warm sense of caring, and personal involvement in the lives of many of our kids, said Club President Glen Jeter.

The money will be used specifically for the purpose of improvements to the facilities at 500 Genesee Street.
