Fans enjoy day one of the PGA Championship
Pittsford, N.Y. Thousands of fans packed Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford for the first day of the PGA Championship.
Fans say seeing the worlds best golfers up close is a great experience.
Tiger Woods saved par on 18 out of the sand, said James Lebel of Rochester who has been to every major at Oak Hill since 1967.
Phil Mickelson, another fan favorite drew crowds even on the practice greens.
We enjoy watching golf so you know to get to it in person its really nice, said Ann Roth, who was at the tournament with her husband.
The tournament is also a great learning experience for aspiring golfers.
I like to golf as well so its really cool to see how they do it, said AJ Atwater who was at the tournament with his Dad.
Seeing how they do it is all you can do during the tournament, photos and video are prohibited.
But if you want to capture a moment you can while the golfers practice.
This is as close as we can get to them a memory for life I guess, said Bryan Monster of Ontario, Canada who was taking a picture at the practice area.
As far as how parking went Thursday, MCC filled up but despite Full Lot signs vehicles were able to park on and off throughout the day as spaces became available.
By the weekend the amount of available spaces for PGA will double.
