Rochester receives federal grant for RPD

Rochester, N.Y. - The City of Rochester announced Wednesday it received federal funding for the Rochester Police Department.

A $191,357 grant under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program was awarded to the City by the Department of Justice.

The Rochester Police Department will use the funds to purchase a rifle package and support the Family and Victims Services Unit and Operation NightWatch programs.

The Department of Justices JAG Program is designed to provide states and units of local government with tools needed to meet the challenges associated with crime and bringing criminals to justice.
