New York, N.Y. (The Daily Beast) -- The Ramen Burger, NYC's newest fad

New York City has found its newest "it" food. Everyone behold, the Ramen Burger.

Created by Ramen blogger and chef, Keizo Shimamoto, a 35 year old ex-mortgage counselor, the burger has become a must-have sensation. After debuting at Brooklyn's weekly outdoor flea market, Smorgasburg, the burger drew more than 300 people to line up for a coveted burger.

The $8 creation begins with a USDA prime beef patty covered in a secret shoyu sauce. The patty is then topped with spiced-up arugula, scallions and a crisped "bun" made from ramen noodles. Sun Noodle, a New Jersey based manufacturer provide the noodles.

Shimamoto gained recognition after being featured in a short film, "Ramen Dreams". The film went on to win Best Short at the 2012 NYC Food Film Festival.

The imaginative creator is hoping to get a permanent spot at Smorgasburg, and eventually move into his own shop to sell his Ramen creations. The shop would aptly be named, Ramen Burger.

Until then Shimamoto can be found working part time at a ramen shop in New York City while dreaming up new ramen recipes.

This newest food trend can be found weekly at Smorgasburg in Brooklyn.
