Pushing the button to success

Rochester, N.Y.Chad Bingo owes a lot to his basset hound, Gracie. Several years ago his family thought it would be funny to have her step on a Staples that was easy button when she wanted to go to the bathroom.

We looked at each other and started laughing, said 20-year-old Bingo.

And from that, he built a business around the product which is called the Gotta Go, button.

You just bring them to the door, you grab their paw and you push their paw against the button, said Bingo. As soon as they hear the noise, you give them a treat and celebrate, and they pick up on it.

Bingo developed the idea shortly before joining the Young Entrepreneurs Academy. Hes working with public relations firm Dixon Schwabl on a package.

Meanwhile hes a college sophomore whose brand has gone national. His product was featured in a story by the Democrat and Chronicle, and on Good Morning America.

At the urging of a professor, Bingo entered Walmarts Get On The Shelf, contest. Its a way to get a product on its shelves through online support.

I could actually make more products that I want and expand my little business.

He expects to find out by early September if he has won the contest.
