Conductor finds dead shark in NYC subway car

NEW YORK (AP) - Did a fan of "Shark Week" get carried away?

The MTA says a conductor found a dead shark aboard an N train in Queens early Wednesday.

The conductor closed off the car after asking passengers to leave. The train continued to the end of the line. Then a train supervisor placed the shark in a garbage bag and put it in the trash.

Transit officials said they were aware of photos that appeared on the Gothamist blog depicting a shark on the floor of a subway car. It had a cigarette in its mouth and a MetroCard and a Red Bull can nearby.

The MTA made no effort to track down the person who posted the images. The agency said it had "better things to do."
