Canadian residents charged with leaving dog in hot car

Victor, N.Y. – Two Canadian residents were charged after leaving a dog in a hot car Saturday evening.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said Alberto Garcia Sanchez, 34, and Annette Irwin, 32, were arrested at Eastview Mall after they allegedly left their dog in a car with the windows closed and without water.

The Fishers Fire Department assisted in measuring the temperature inside the vehicle and found that it was 132 degrees where the dog was sitting.

The dog was secured by the Ontario County Humane Society. Both Toronto residents were charged with Confinement of a Companion in a Vehicle and Irwin was charged with animal cruelty also.

They will appear at Victor Town Court at a later date.
