Coach sentenced for sex abuse

Rochester, N.Y. - A firefighter and youth coach who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing three teenage boys was sentenced Monday to 19 years in prison.

Leslie Hoke took a plea deal in July to avoid a trial. As part of the deal he will not have to admit to the specifics of his crimes and will not be allowed to appeal his conviction.

Hoke asked to adjourn Mondays sentencing because he said he has safety issues at the Ontario County jail. Judge Craig Doran said no because the victims appeared in court to speak.

One of the victims said to Hoke, "I trusted you and you put a hole in my heart. I wasn't the first ...but I was the last." He said he came forward to stop the cycle of abuse.

Hoke chose not to speak but his attorney asked for better counseling to help him deal with his own past issues of child sex abuse.

Judge Doran called Hoke "the most evil of evil" and said the sentence is not enough and he wont request special prison counseling until Hoke takes responsibility.

In addition to 19 years in prison, Hoke will also have 20 years of post-release supervision.
