Greek celebration raises money for church

Rochester, N.Y. The South Wedge played host to a celebration of Greek culture this weekend.

The annual Highland Greekfest is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit on South Avenue.

The festival featured food, music, dance, crafts, raffles and special church services. All proceeds went directly to the church.

Chairman Ted Kastrinos said he couldnt have asked for a better weekend.

It's our way of displaying what our culture is all about, from the food to the dancing to the music and all the crafts that come with it, and bringing a little bit of Greece here to America," he said. "Turnout has been really nice. The weather has been very, very kind to us, so we've been very fortunate to have some nice crowds, some energetic crowds."
