New Irondequoit library bogged down by critics

Irondequoit, N.Y. Plans for a long awaited new library for Irondequoit lost some momentum Tuesday night.

Critics of the $13 million project questioned whether the town followed state law when conducting a second environmental review.

The second review, like the first, found that building a centralized library next to the Irondequoit Town Hall on Titus Avenue, wouldnt negatively impact the surrounding area.

In April, voters overwhelmingly approved a resolution for the town to borrow money needed for the project.

A lawsuit against the project returns to court in October.

Town leaders say they may ask residents to re-approve the project based on a new review.
