NYS employee allegedly took bribes

Waterloo, N.Y. According to the New York Attorney Generals Office, a former government employee was been charged with accepting bribes Monday.

John Hall, a former Engineer-in-Charge for the New York State Office of General Services, has allegedly defrauded the state of more than $50,000.

The Oswego resident apparently approved fraudulent expense reports in exchange for expensive construction equipment and home improvement materials, including a John Deere backhoe that cost more than $40,000.

Authorities say the former employee used the device for personal use and falsified documents that indicated he paid for the benefits received.

The scheme resulted in Hall accepting bribes for benefits worth more than $50,000. He has been charged with sixteen felonies including Defrauding the Government and Grand Larceny, and was arraigned in Seneca County Court.
