Bomb investigation closes street

Rochester, N.Y. Police continue to investigate two separate explosions on the citys west side Monday night.

Rochester police were called to the Dream Cutz barbershop on Lyell Avenue around 9:30 after someone threw an explosive device, which police said may be a firework, through the back window. The device went off, causing some damage.

No one was hurt, but the bomb squad was on scene for several hours.

About 25 minutes later, police said someone tossed a device onto a porch on Cameron Street, again causing some damage and a bomb squad investigation.

They came over here and we heard a ticking sound and he said, Run! a witness, who asked not to be identified, said of the Cameron Street explosion. It was almost like a grenade sound, and the flashes were like paparazzi cameras flashing.

Rochester police are investigating whether the incidents are connected.
