Obama tour at a glance

Upstate N.Y. - President Obama spent the night at the Holiday Inn in Auburn after a busy day in Upstate New York.

President Obama will now take his bus tour to Binghamton and Scranton, Pennsylvania today.

He is schedule to speak at SUNY Binghamton at 12:45 p.m.

Side issues cropped up during Thursday's tour, but the overarching theme was higher education and how to make sure people don't get buried in debt trying to get it.

While talking at a Syracuse high school, Obama made a few proposals.

First, he proposed to limit the amount of income students would have to pay on school loans.

Secondly, he proposed to limit what the government gives to colleges that aren't making strides in knocking down cost.

This was an appealing message for the 55 Hillside kids who were bussed into Syracuse from Rochester to hear the speech.

"We've got to stop subsidizing schools that are not getting good results, Obama said. That's our goal."
