Arrest warrant issued for Greece police officer

Greece, N.Y. -- A New Jersey court has issued a warrant for the arrest of a Greece police officer.

According to the Greece Police Department, Officer Hector Padgham is involved in a family court custody issue regarding his teenage child. The issue is being handled in two courts - one in New York and one in New Jersey.

On Friday, a judge in New Jersey issued a warrant for the arrest of Padgham for failing to comply with a court order.

The warrant is a civil warrant rather than a criminal warrant, which means New York officers do not have the authority to arrest Padgham, and New Jersey does not have the right to extradite him from New York.

The Greece Police Department has told Padgham to go to New Jersey and surrender himself for arrest.

Padgham is being placed on administrative duty.
