Man arrested for DWI after chase

Geneva, N.Y.  -- A man is in police custody after he allegedly led an officer on a brief vehicle chase.

Geneva Police said that Ryan Michael Bassett, 18, of Geneva was driving a stolen car on Pulteney Street around 3:00 a.m. Saturday. An officer gave chase on Jay Street, where Bassett allegedly crashed the vehicle he was driving into a residence, causing damage to a guardrail and front foundation of the house.

Bassett was taken into custody and charged with DWI and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, among other violations. He was not hurt in the crash, and no one from the residence was home at the time of the crash. The officer involved in the chase suffered an ankle injury.
