Thousands run Rochester Marathon
Rochester, N.Y. - More than 3,000 runners participated in the Rochester Marathon Sunday, including one who annihilated the previous course record.
Kip Tisia crossed the finish line at two hours and nineteen minutes. Impressive, considering he's run some half marathons but never a full one before.
Melissa Gillette was the top female finisher.
The races are put on to raise awareness of arthritis, and encourage people to just get out and move.
One man ran in honor of a young woman injured in a crash in Wheatland in July. Andy Trepanier works at Cloverwood Senior Living with Joanne Kruchten, who is still recovering from her injuries.
She created plaque at the facility, which inspired Trepanier to run.
And congratulations to the relay team of 13WHAMs Jennifer Johnson, Evan Dawson, Marty Snyder and Adam Chodak who ran as 13WHAM Morning Rush (a team name viewers helped pick). The team finished in 3 hours, 26 minutes and 56 seconds good for 8th place overall in the Mixed Relay Division.
