Father with incurable cancer receives gift of a lifetime
Penfield, N.Y. Scott Kropman cant do anything halfway.
Hes the kind of guy who actually loves his job.
Its kind of my vacation to get away from the kids sometimes, Kropman said.
Who can blame him? He has 7 children.
Like him, 4 of his boys dedicate themselves to wrestling.
Its in Penfield, Kropman coaches and his boys hit the mat.
Most of our vacations are based around wrestling, Kropman said.
But soon Kropman, his wife Stephany and his kids will go on a vacation of a lifetime.
This is because when it comes to life, Kropman doesnt know how much time he has left.
The diagnosis came after a shoulder injury.
(That injury) led me to the emergency room," Kropman said.
Doctors, though, saw more than just a injured shoulder.
They sent Kropman to an oncologist, who diagnosed him with incurable cancer.
It's called neuroendocrine cancer.
This is when Kropman's friend, Karen DiMarco, decided to step in.
She knew Kropman's unflagging commitment extended to the Miami Dolphins so she called the team and asked what they could do.
The Dolphins offered to host Kropman and his entire family for the team's Oct. 6th home game.
Kropman's family, friends and co-workers at EarthLink are raising money for plane tickets to Florida.
DiMarco has helped organized a fundraiser this Sunday at Midvale Country Club at noon.
