Alleged thief leaves wallet on counter

Batavia, N.Y. - Two men in Genesee County face several charges, in part, because one of them accidentally left his wallet behind during an attempted robbery.

New York State Police say Roy Hooten, 52, distracted a Home Depot employee, while 30-year-old Robert Peachey walked out of the store with copper piping on Saturday.

They left, but had to return because Peachey left his wallet at the counter.

Store employees called police and the two men were promptly arrested.

They face grand larceny and conspiracy charges.
