RCSD tackling truancy door-to-door

Rochester, N.Y. - The Rochester City School District renews an endeavour to cut down on truancy.

Superintendent Bolgen Vargas and some volunteers plan to go door-to-door and ask truant students why they've been missing school. Their targets are students who have missed three days or more so far this year.

Last year, the attendance rate for the RCSD was 89 percent.

The district wants to increase its average to 93 percent.
