RPD nabs Hillside Ave burglary suspects

Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester police said Tuesday a barking dog led to the arrest of two men suspected of burglarizing six homes overnight.

Police said Anthony Rainey, 21, and Larry Copeland, 21, both of Rochester, were caught with the stolen items.

The two were accused of targeting side streets off of Hillside Ave and looking for unlocked doors.

Many of the victims were actually home at the time.

"They were just walking up," Castlebar Road resident Peter Dugan said. "They probably checked out my house, my neighbor's house and every other house in this area to see if they were open and if they were, they took whatever they could."

The barking dog alerted a homeowner to call 911.

Some of the items stolen included laptops, iPads, bicycles and money. However all of the goods were returned to their rightful owners.
