One dead, one seriously injured in Parma crash

Parma, N.Y.- One person died and another was seriously injured in a one-car crash in Parma Tuesday afternoon.

Monroe County Sheriffs deputies said it happened around 12:30 p.m. on Burritt Road at Route 259.

Deputies said the driver, 18-year-old Victor Rex, and passenger, 26-year-old Michael J. Maniscalco, were driving east on Burritt Rd. at a high rate of speed when the car went over a hump in the road. That's when the car went airborne and the driver lost control. The car went off the road, took out a telephone pole and hit three trees before coming to a stop.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene; the passenger was taken to Strong Hospital with serious injuries.

Live wires have forced emergency crews to close the road from Hill Rd. to Rt. 259 since the accident.
