Brighton releases bicentennial plans

Brighton, N.Y. Plans are set for Brightons bicentennial celebration.

The town unveiled a new logo and its schedule for its 200th anniversary celebration in 2014 at a Brighton Memories event hosted by 13WHAMs Don Alhart.

The bicentennial begins in January with a town proclamation. Other events include a reenactment of the towns first board meeting in 1814 and a town-wide homecoming next summer.

Supervisor Bill Moehle said the event will celebrate all Brighton residents, whether theyre longtime residents or newcomers.

Multi-generational families in Brighton are wonderful, but we also have people who have moved to Brighton from around the country and around the world, he said That's part of what makes Brighton so great 200 years after it was founded."
