Teen birth rate at historic low

U.S. - The number of teenagers having babies has reached a historic low, CDC researchers say.

The birth rate among women ages 15 to 19 fell 6 percent last year to 29 births per thousand.

That's the lowest rate in the 73 years the government has been collecting data.

Experts say more effective birth control and increased awareness about STDs are reasons for the decline.
