Three cars crash in Genesee County

Alabama, N.Y. Four people were taken to area hospitals after a three-car crash Monday morning in Genesee County.

Sheriffs deputies said that a car traveling on Ledge Road ran a stop sign at the intersection of Route 77 and then hit another vehicle, causing that one to spin around several times.

Police said the vehicle that allegedly ran the stop sign veered off the road and into a fence, causing one of the posts to pierce the drivers side window.

After being hit in the intersection, the second vehicle, which was carrying one person, was struck again by a third vehicle.

The three people in the first vehicle were transported to UMMC in Batavia for evaluation.

First responders said that the driver of the twice-struck vehicle was unconscious for a few minutes after their arrival, but soon came to, and appeared to be suffering from only minor injuries.

The driver of the third vehicle declined medical treatment.
