Boulder Creek rising fast, cars submerged

Boulder, Colo.     The National Guard was going door to door to evacuate the Boulder area Thursday night after 11just an hour after they had their first alert call from a resident who noticed the nearby creek surging.

The creek waters are still rising fast Friday morning because of heavy rainfall all week. Debris is clogging parts of the Boulder Canyon.

Police want cars out of streets because the water is rising so fast its unpredictable.

Already, roadways across the area are closed; some cars are submerged.

At time, the storm dumped an inch of rain an hour.

Boulder Creek is flowing at 16 times its normal rate.

"How high the creek was--how fast it was--how muddy--how dangerous it was--it freaked us out!"

Tons of debris pushed along with the powerful rush of the creek.

The floods are blamed for at least three deaths in Colorado. Rescue crews are concerned that the number will rise.
