Eric Smith on Killer Kids show

Savona, N.Y. -- Convicted child killer Eric Smith, originally of Steuben County, was the subject of an episode of "Killer Kids" on Lifetime Movie Network Sunday night.

"As much as the community wants answers as to how do we identify these kids before they kill, there is no sense or pattern of things to point to, that will tell you whether someone is going to become a juvenile killer," said Trica L. Peterson, Ph.D., a Rochester-based forensic psychologist who was interviewed for the show.

In the Sunday night episode, investigators and psychologists spoke about Smith's state of mind at the time of the murder.

He was just 13 when he killed and sexually assaulted four-and-a-half-year-old Derrick Robie in 1993.

Smith was denied parole from the Correctional Facility in Erie County where hes being held earlier this year, because the parole board decided he would pose a risk to the community.
