Attica, N.Y. Two adults and two children, along with several pets, are safe after a fire at their home early Monday.

First responders said that two corrections officers spotted flames coming from the home on Exchange Street while on their way to work around 5:20 a.m. They stopped and alerted the family about the fire and helped them get out safely.

The Red Cross is providing aid for the family. Two dogs and a cat were rescued from the home. A second cat is still unaccounted for.
