Utility bill refunds are on the way

Rochester, N.Y. - You've got some money coming from your local utility.

The state-ordered refunds are part of a federal lawsuit that accused the power companies of driving up prices by manipulating the wholesale energy markets.

Rochester Gas & Electric will hand out $2.3 million in refunds. NYSEG customers will receive $4.6, and more than $10 million will be divided up among National Grid customers.

The average customer will get a $3 credit on their bill.
