Two arrested after officers find emaciated dogs

Fairport, N.Y. - Two people from Rochester were arrested for animal cruelty.

Officers with the Humane Society of Greater Rochester arrested Angela Jones and Adam Martinez and charged them with two counts of failure to provide sustenance and two counts of improper shelter.

Humane Society investigators responded to calls from Rochester Animal Control to a home on Saxton Street in Rochester on August 13. They found two emaciated dogs outside without adequate shelter as required by New York State law.

The two pit bull dogs, a three-year-old male now named Tog and an eight-month-old female now called Pondo, were seized and brought to Lollypop Farm.

The health of the two dogs is slowly improving and they will ultimately be evaluated for adoption.

Jones and Martinez are scheduled to appear in Rochester City Court on September 18. They face up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
