Windstream opens downtown office

Rochester, N.Y.- A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday for the first company to open at the former midtown plaza site.

Windstream Communications officially unveiled the new company headquarters at the corner of Main Street and Clinton Avenue.

The telecommunications company bought out local company PAETEC.

Windstreams CEO, Jeff Gardner said the company was happy to keep operations in Rochester.

"I am delighted Windstream can contribute to revitalizing the city's core, said Gardner. I truly believe the future is bright and I hope Windstream's decision to bring a large number of employees to midtown will serve as a catalyst for future development.

About 335 Windstream employees will occupy the former Seneca Building at the Midtown site.
