New wing opens at Mall at Greece Ridge

Greece, N.Y. - The ribbon was cut on two of the new stores in the Mall at Greece-Ridge but the shopping began hours earlier.

Chico's and The Loft opened their doors in the new State Street wing. They offered discounts to shoppers, some of whom were waiting outside before the stores opened.

The new wing features murals from different sites around Rochester. It will also include several restaurants. Bar Louie opens Thursday. Red Robin and Moes Southwest Grill open later in the fall and Benuccis and Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt plan to open after the first of the year.

Shoppers tell us it's about time the mall bring in high end stores and restaurants. They are tired of having to drive to Pittsford or Victor.

Mall Management has told 13WHAM it is challenging to bring in many establishments because they only want to have one location in each market.

Cristina Gatti is a fan of Chico's and was a regular at the store in Pittsford. Now she's making friends in the new location in the Mall at Greece-Ridge.

Gatti said she likes the higher-end clothing, because it's unique and comfortable.

Marilyn Markajani said she sometimes travels to Syracuse and Buffalo to go to her favorite stores, now she plans to do more shopping in Greece. She's a fan of The Loft store and said with the money she saves on gas, she can spend more shopping.

The Justice for Brothers store, which features clothes for teen boys and girls opens October 8th and on October 28, Sephora will open inside the JC Penney store in the mall.

The only thing that is still a mystery, the name of the business that will take over the location where the old Circuit City store is. Some said it is rumored to be a trendy restaurant, but who knows?

Stay tuned for more updates.
