Man ticketed after sheep go astray

Naples, N.Y. A Webster man was ticketed after his livestock allegedly escaped from their pasture and entered a nearby roadway on two separate occasions.

Ontario County Sheriffs deputies said that sheep belonging to Carl Welt, 45, were able to escape their pen on Rhine Street on August 23 and September 2 due to inadequate fencing. Deputies said that the sheep entered the roadway and created a dangerous situation for drivers.

Welte was issued an appearance ticket for Naples Town Court. Additional charges may be filed, pending an investigation by the Humane Society.

The sheep in question were seized and moved to a livestock facility.
