Casa Larga opens harvest season with grape stomping
Fairport, N.Y. -- People stomping on grapes at Casa Larga Vineyards has become a sign fall is near.
The winery rang in the harvest season Sunday with its 18th annual Purple Foot Festival.
Grape stomping served as the main attraction, but the event also featured tours, wine tastings, hayrides and other activities for the entire family.
Andrea Colaruotolo-ONeill from Casa Larga said the grapes that were stomped on wont be used to make wine, but the nostalgic tradition has become popular among customers.
"I just think people, when they think of wineries, people love to reference that 'I Love Lucy' scene," she said. "They just think back maybe to a simpler time, a less-crazy time when you could relax and have fun."
